Chrome gets extended Windows 7 support. Originally Google Chrome was supposed to be discontinued for Windows 7 in the middle of 2021, giving everyone a timeframe of about another six or so months. This has prompted Google to keep providing updates from Chrome on Windows 7 until the beginning of 2022. Google has decided to extend support for Chrome on Windows 7 by up to six months. Google had previously given a deadline of July 15, 2021 but it is extending it based on feedback from its customers.

The facts: Windows 7 SP1 has fallen out of support for the mass of users since January 14, 2020. Only who buys a ESU license (or works with tricks), still gets security updates for the system. This end of support also means that software vendors will gradually discontinue support for Windows 7 as of January 14, 2020. Many programs will continue to run on Windows 7, but browsers and email clients may eventually become difficult to use when there are no more updates. In this blog post Google writes that they want to continue to support companies that are still using Windows 7. Therefore the support of Chrome on Windows 7 SP1 will continue until January 15, 2022.
