There have been rumors abound about what editing programs will and will not run on Mountain Lion. Here's some clarification.

Long story short…

Apple Final Cut Pro 7 Some users may have errors with third party FxPlug plugins according to Premium Beat. We are confirming it with Boris FX right now.)

Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 (No issues reported, but may have Gatekeeper error messages)

Avid Media Composer (preparing signed versions, minor issues. Read the Avid whitepaper here.)

Do Adobe Creative Suite 5, 5.5, and CS6 applications support Mac OS X Mountain Lion (v10.8)?

Adobe and Apple have worked closely together to test Adobe® Creative Suite® 5, 5.5 and CS6 editions and individual products for reliability, performance and user experience when installed on Intel® based systems running Mac OS X Mountain Lion (v10.8). Earlier versions of Adobe Photoshop® (CS3 and CS4) software were also tested with Mountain Lion and there are currently no known issues.

Is Adobe aware of any major issues, bugs, or odd user experiences when using CS5, 5.5, CS6, or Adobe Acrobat® products with Mac OS X Mountain Lion?

In our testing we have found no significant issues with running CS5, 5.5, CS6 or Acrobat products with Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

Adobe has added the Gatekeeper signing requirements to our currently shipping applications. However, our legacy products created before Mountain Lion's Gatekeeper feature was available are not signed. If you download one of those legacy (unsigned) applications, the Gatekeeper security feature may pop-up a security dialog that warns users against downloading non-signed applications from the Internet. You can still install the un-signed applications by following these directions.

Third Party Plug-ins

As with any upgrade, we recommend that it's general good practice to upgrade on a less critical machine first if possible, and not to upgrade mid-project, or while you're working on something that it is reliant on several third-party items until reasonable time has passed for issues to be reported.

How to Disable Gatekeeper to install some plug-ins and software in OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion

There's a new feature called Gatekeeper which is designed to fight malware and viruses on the Mac. Gatekeeper blocks apps from developers that have not acquired a Developer ID from Apple, which will approve the Mac software as being safe.
